Membership
As an Evangelical Free Church, we believe that the local church is a visible expression of Christ’s body on earth. While salvation unites every believer to Christ and to His universal church, the New Testament also points to committed belonging within a specific local congregation. Church membership is our way of recognizing that belonging. It is a joyful, public commitment to worship, serve, and grow alongside a defined group of believers under the authority of God’s Word. Though the Bible does not use the term “membership” in a modern sense, it clearly describes identifiable congregations with recognized leaders, shared doctrine, mutual accountability, and meaningful participation. Believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer (Acts 2:42). Shepherds were entrusted with the care of particular people (1 Peter 5:2), and the church practiced loving accountability and discipline when necessary (Matthew 18:15–17). Membership simply reflects this biblical pattern of committed life together. We understand membership as a covenant relationship. Those who become members affirm the gospel, agree with our statement of faith, and commit to pursue unity, holiness, and service within the body. In turn, the church commits to shepherd, teach, encourage, and care for its members. It is not about putting your name on a list, but about taking responsibility for one another’s spiritual growth. If you are considering membership, we would love to walk with you through that process. Membership is a meaningful step of obedience and partnership — a way of saying, “This is my church family, and I am committed to Christ’s work here.”
